The Bischofswerda station is being remodelled as part of the accessibility project.

The construction of two new lifts by summer 2025 will make Bischofswerda station barrier-free. The new lifts will improve conditions for people with limited mobility, travellers with heavy luggage, people with pushchairs and cyclists.

During the construction phase, the platforms can be reached via a temporary railway crossing with steps. For travellers and visitors who are unable to negotiate the significantly increased number of steps, it is recommended that they use the local public transport service with regional, barrier-free buses. Outside of bus operating times - during off-peak hours and at weekends - we offer a taxi service for people who are unable to use the stairs.

The taxi runs on request via the DB Mobility Service Centre (MSZ) between Bischofswerda and the stations Weickersdorf (Sachs), Seitschen and Schmölln (Oberlausitz). Booking is recommended three days in advance and is necessary at least 24 hours in advance. The meeting point for the taxi service is the station forecourt in Bischofswerda.

The mobility service centre offers the following contact options:

Telephone: 030 652 128 88
E-mail: msz@deutschebahn.com
Website: https://msz-bahn.de/

This alternative travel offer applies to train connections that are scheduled to travel to platform 2/3, which is not accessible for people with disabilities. This is usually the direction of travel from Dresden to Görlitz/Zittau as well as trains from Zittau. We recommend using transfer-free train connections between Görlitz/Zittau and Dresden. From Bischofswerda, we recommend using train departures from platform 1 in the direction of Dresden. This platform is still barrier-free.
