We want everyone who visits one of our stations and continues their journey on a train from there to be able to reach their destination without difficulty. For this reason, we are gradually making our stations in Germany barrier-free. The station Rheydt-Odenkirchen in Mönchengladbach has also been modernised accordingly since October 2023. A temporary passenger overpass has been built so that travellers and visitors can reach the station's platforms without interrupting operations despite the ongoing construction work. The construction work is expected to be completed in 2025.

As part of the construction work, the platform at the station Rheydt-Odenkirchen will be raised so that in future it will be easy for people with bicycles, wheelchairs or buggies to board stopping trains without steps.

As part of the renovation work at the station Rheydt-Odenkirchen, which is scheduled to run from October 2023 to 2025, the station will be made barrier-free. A renovated platform, raised to 76 centimetres, will enable step-free access to the regional trains stopping on site in the future. In addition, two lifts will be installed to ensure step-free access to the platforms. The platforms are also being modernised. Among other things, the dynamic signage and lighting will be replaced. New waiting shelters, which protect against rain and moisture, and new seating will make waiting at the station more pleasant in future. A new tactile guidance system and a modernised pedestrian subway round off the redesign of the station Rheydt-Odenkirchen.

A temporary pedestrian overpass has been installed so that travellers and visitors can access the platforms during the construction work. This means that travelling by train at the station Rheydt-Odenkirchen is still possible during the ongoing renovation work.
