Data processing regulations

Link zu diesem Abschnitt kopieren

If we obtain your consent to process personal information, this serves as a legal basis as per Article 6.1(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Processing personal data required for fulfilling a contract with you is based on Article 6.1(b) of the GDPR. Article 6.1(b) of the GDPR also applies to processing required for performing precontractual measures, for example in connection with requests pertaining to our products or service.

If our company is required by law to process personal data, for example for meeting taxation-related requirements, the relevant processing measures are based on Art. 6.1(c) of the GDPR.

For the processing of data resulting from our legitimate interest, Art.6.1(f) GDPR serves as the legal basis.

What data do we collect? How and why do we process your data?

We appreciate your use of our app and would like to transparently explain whether and when your personal data is collected and processed. All data collection and processing is done for specific purposes. These result from technical necessities or explicit user requests.

For technical reasons, certain data (for example the device ID) must be collected and stored when using DB Bahnhof live in order for the functioning of the app on your device.

When downloading the app, your username, e-mail address and your customer number, the time of the download and the individual device number are transmitted to the app store. We have no influence on this data processing and are not responsible for it. You can find more information in the Google PlayStore and Apple App Store.

Basic functions

Location data

Link zu diesem Abschnitt kopieren

In this app, we offer convenience features with which we provide you special services tailored to your particular location. In order for you to use these, it is necessary that your current location is transmitted. For the purposes of service provision, it is therefore necessary that the app is allowed to access the location data of your device. The location is only accessed after you have granted the app access authorization. The legal basis for the location processing is Art. 6.1(b) of the GDPR. You can disable access to location data in the app settings or as described below.

On Android, you can disable access to the location in the operating system settings in the menu sub-item ‘Apps> Bahnhof live> Access rights‘ or in the general device settings of your smartphone: Mobile Device menu>Settings>Location>Enable Location ’Off’ option.

On iOS, you can disable access to the location in the operating system settings in the menu sub-item ‘Privacy> Location services> Bahnhof live’.

Reminder function carriage order

Link zu diesem Abschnitt kopieren

The app offers you the option of being informed and reminded about the carriage order of trains (access to your device’s alarm clock is required), among other things. To use this, you can proactively activate a reminder function: ‘App start page>Station start page> Departure board station> Select train>Carriage order> Activate reminder function’. You will then receive a one-time reminder with information about the current carriage order. The legal basis for this is Art. 6.1(b) of the GDPR.

You can deactivate the reminder function again (even before you receive the desired information): "App start page>Station start page> Station departure board> Train selection>Carriage order> Reminder function.

Notifications of changes in the operating status of elevators

Link zu diesem Abschnitt kopieren

This app offers you the possibility to be informed about important events and news within our service, even if the app is not open. We use so-called push services for this purpose. To be able to send you these messages, we process pseudonymous data on servers of your operating system provider, which may also be located in the USA. We have taken technical precautions to ensure that only the data that is absolutely necessary to provide the service is transmitted to the operating system provider. The legal basis for the use of push services is Art. 6.1(b) of the GDPR.

You will only receive push messages if you switch on this function as described below.

You can deactivate the notifications about a changed operating status again (even before receiving the desired information): "App Home>Station start page> Tab "i" station information about elevators> Select elevator > Push. For Android, you can switch on the receipt of notifications in the operating system settings in the menu sub-item "Apps/Bahnhof live/Notifications". For iOS, you can switch on the receipt of notifications in the operating system settings in the menu sub-item "Bahnhof live/Messages".

Feedback function

Link zu diesem Abschnitt kopieren

On occasion, for example after updates, we ask you about your satisfaction with the app. In this case, a message is displayed inviting you to provide feedback. When you open this message, you will be redirected to either the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, depending on the operating system of your mobile device, where you can submit your rating. In the process, data will be transferred to the respective App Store. Under the item ‘Download’ you will find the links to the privacy notice of the respective stores. If you do not wish to submit an immediate rating, simply close the message after it appears.

On the station start page of the app, you will find the ‘Feedback‘ tile. This takes you to a submenu where you can rate the app in the respective store (’Rate app’).

In addition, you have the option under this navigation point to contact us directly to report any problems that may occur with the app (‘Contact us’). Should you select this option, your mail client will open with a predefined subject and selected recipient. Please note that sending us a message also involves sending us your e-mail address. This will be treated confidentially by us and processed exclusively for the purpose for which it was transmitted. We recommend that you do not send any confidential content to us by e-mail, as the transmission is not encrypted. Please use the postal service for confidential requests to us.

Contacting us

Link zu diesem Abschnitt kopieren

When contacting us via the feedback feature on the station pages, the e-mail address, the device manufacturer and the used app version are collected to process your request and, if necessary, to identify errors. Should you proactively contact a store in a train station by phone, the app accesses the call function of your telephone.

You can also contact us via DB Smile, the virtual chat assistant (chatbot/live chat) of DB InfraGO AG.

Personal information is neither required nor requested to use DB Smile. In the case of a live chat, it may be necessary at your request to process certain personal information to answer your concern. Our system stores your questions for max. 30 days so that its self-learning algorithms can improve how the chatbot functions. It does not evaluate personal data. Usage-related metrics such as chat duration, information timestamps, number of exchanges and general location of the user are stored exclusively for statistical reasons. We only store any information relating to you so that we can process your enquiry and for reasons connected with our internal procedures, for example managing and improving our business and service processes (Article 6.1.b of GDPR).

If you contact us via other channels, such as those communicated within the scope of special campaigns or programmes for customers at selected stations, we will use the information you provide us with (for example e-mail or phone number) only for measures required within the context of the relevant campaign or programme.

This is safeguarded by strict contractual regulations, technical and organisational measures and supplementary checks.

Your data is forwarded only if you have provided us with your explicit consent or if mandated by legal provisions.

Your information is not forwarded to a third-party state outside the EU/EEA or to an international organisation unless suitable guarantees have been provided. These include standard EU contract clauses and an EU Commission decision regarding suitability.
