We want travelling by train to be possible for everyone, which is why we are continuously working on making our stations accessible. This also applies to the station Oberhaid. The platforms there have been undergoing barrier-free rebuilding since the beginning of March 2024. The station will also receive a tactile guidance system and modernised equipment as part of the work. All measures should be completed by the end of 2024. Travellers and visitors may experience track and timetable changes during the construction work, with possible replacement services.
The renovation work at the station Oberhaid is being carried out in several stages. Firstly, a new platform was built at platform 3. This has been available to travellers and visitors since the end of July 2024. A new platform will then also be built on track 1. The platform will not be accessible to travellers and visitors for the duration of the construction work. According to current information, completion is planned by October 2024. The two island platforms will then be dismantled as the final part of the conversion work. Once the construction work is complete, the station platforms will be accessible without steps and will be connected barrier-free via newly constructed paths. A new subway, which has already been completed, will connect the two platforms in future.
As part of the construction work, the height of the platforms will be adapted to the trains stopping on site. This will enable step-free access to the means of transport for all travellers. The station will also be equipped with new weather shelters and seating for a pleasant stay. A tactile guidance system and new lighting will also be installed and the electrical systems and passenger information system will be modernised. In addition, the entire overhead line in the station area will be replaced. This work is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
Timetable and track changes are to be expected at the station during the construction work. Travellers are asked to check their train connections online or on site. We ask for your understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
