Dortmund Hauptbahnhof, the fourth largest station in North Rhine-Westphalia, is of central importance in the region. Since 2017, the station has been modernised during ongoing operations. The station has now been officially opened. Among other things, travellers and visitors benefit from seven new lifts, raised platforms for barrier-free access to stopping trains and new information monitors.
As part of the construction work, almost all platforms at the station Dortmund Hauptbahnhof have been raised. This ensures step-free boarding and alighting from stopping trains. In addition, seven new lifts and six escalators were installed to enable accessibility to the platforms. Travellers and visitors can also look forward to new, modern seating options and an improved range of information on site. New monitors now provide them with all the relevant information about the station.
The passenger subway was also rebuilt and widened by four metres as part of the inputs. An attractive new wall design and an improved lighting concept round off the refurbishment.
At the end of the construction work, the final touches will be made to platform 1. All work at the station Dortmund Hauptbahnhof should then be completed in spring 2025.
