Unfortunately, the lifts at Waiblingen station have often been unreliable in the past. This has presented travellers and station visitors with challenges on their way to or from a platform. In order to improve the reliability of the lifts at the station, all lifts are now being successively replaced from December 2023. This will result in restrictions for travellers with limited mobility during the construction work.

Lifts are an essential contribution to accessibility at stations.

As part of the construction work at Waiblingen station, the lifts at the station forecourt and at platform 1 will initially be replaced, probably by April 2024. Unfortunately, these lifts cannot be used during the construction work. However, mobility-impaired travellers and visitors can use the ramps available at the station to get around.

The lift at platform 6/7 will then be renewed. During this phase of the construction work, travellers with reduced mobility are requested to use the S3 between Vaihingen and Fellbach. Travellers using the S2 in the direction of Schorndorf should ideally travel as far as Rommelshausen and change there to the opposite direction. Passengers travelling in the direction of Aalen are requested to take the S2 to Bad Cannstatt and change there to the MEX13. In addition, passengers with restricted mobility are generally advised to contact the Mobility Service Centre (MSZ) at least one working day before a planned train journey for the duration of the construction work. They will organise everything necessary if assistance is required when boarding, changing or alighting and will help to plan an alternative route. Information on the Mobility Service Centre and its contact details can be found at bahn.de/barrierefrei.
