The raising of the platforms and the use of a tactile guidance system contribute to the barrier-free accessibility of the station Karlsruhe-Mühlburg.

Over the next few months, the station Karlsruhe-Mühlburg will undergo a complete refurbishment with a focus on accessibility. By autumn 2024, the platforms are expected to be raised so that passengers can board and alight trains stopping on site without steps. This will make life much easier, especially for travellers with a wheelchair, pushchair or bicycle.

Information in Braille will be displayed on the stair handrails and a tactile guidance system will be installed in the station. This will make it easier for visually impaired people to find their way around the station.

A modernised pedestrian subway will take travellers and visitors to their tracks. The platforms will be fitted with new equipment and a new lighting system to ensure a comfortable stay at the station.

During the work, the station cannot be used from 8:30 to 16:00. The Lameyplatz stop can be reached via the pedestrian bridge. Travellers are advised to check their train connections before their journey and to allow more time in advance. In addition, passengers with restricted mobility are advised to contact the Mobility Service Centre (MSZ) at least one working day before a planned train journey for the duration of the construction work. They will organise assistance with boarding, changing or alighting and help with planning an alternative route. Travellers can find information about the Mobility Service Centre and contact details at bahn.de/barrierefrei.
