By 2026, in addition to the renovation of the pedestrian subway and the barrier-free expansion of Holzminden station, its facilities will also be modernised for a more pleasant stay on site.

As part of the modernisation of Holzminden station, a tactile guidance system for passengers and visitors with visual impairments is being installed.

Construction work has been underway at Holzminden station since 1 February 2024. The focus of the modernisation work is on renewing the pedestrian subway. New, wheelchair-accessible ramps will ensure barrier-free access to the platforms in future. Travellers and visitors with wheelchairs, lots of luggage or pushchairs will be able to move around the station with ease. Raising the platforms to 76 centimetres will also enable step-free boarding and alighting from trains.

The house platform directly next to the station building will also be upgraded. It will be fitted with new weather shelters to protect it from rain and wind. Together with the centre platform, it will receive new, more sustainable lighting and a tactile guidance system. This will help people with visual impairments in particular to find their way around the station.

The area around the station is also being built and improved. The car park at the station is also being renovated with ten parking spaces and two suitable parking bays for people with disabilities.

Travellers and visitors will have to be prepared for occasional track changes during the construction work. The modernisation work is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2026.
