The station Friedrichsdorf (Taunus) has been undergoing extensive modernisation since June 2022. The aim is to provide travellers and visitors with a comfortable and barrier-free stay at the station in the future and to enable them to change trains when they stop. The construction work was originally due to be completed at the beginning of September 2024, but will be extended until mid-September 2024 due to external circumstances. A replacement service has been organised.
The station Friedrichsdorf (Taunus) has been undergoing modernisation for almost two years. Various measures are being implemented as part of the modernisation to improve barrier-free access to the station. A new ramp is being built on the east side of the station and two new lifts are being installed. Furthermore, platform 1 will be raised so that travellers will be able to board and alight trains stopping on site without steps in future. This is particularly important for people with wheelchairs, pushchairs or bicycles. New roofs will also be fitted to the platforms and a tactile guidance system will be installed to provide better orientation for blind and visually impaired people. The platforms will also be fitted with new display cases and information monitors, modern seating and weather shelters to protect against rain and wind.
Construction work on the station was originally scheduled for completion at the beginning of September 2024. The final step was to be the completion of the new pedestrian subway. Unfortunately, however, the ground substance at the station, into which the concrete parts of the subway were to be installed, is not strong enough. For this reason, the construction work and the associated closure of track 4 will have to be extended until mid-September 2024. Until then, please note the replacement timetable and the adjusted frequency of the S-Bahn lines. The new pedestrian subway is expected to be completed in 2024.
Please check your train connection before travelling and allow extra time. We ask for your understanding during the construction period and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
