Making barrier-free travel possible for everyone - that is one of our goals for the future. Accordingly, we are working on making our stations barrier-free and are gradually converting them. This includes the station Frankfurt-Griesheim from June 2024, when the station will be modernised for passengers and visitors in two construction phases, probably by mid-2027. For the duration of the construction work, a barrier-free temporary bridge will be installed as an alternative to the Omegabrücke  and the pedestrian subways. This will allow people on foot or by bike to continue to cross the tracks and reach the platforms easily.

The modernisation will make the station Frankfurt-Griesheim more attractive for travellers, visitors and residents.

In the first construction phase, new lifts, ramps and a tactile guidance system for the east subway (Waldschulstraße) will be installed at the station Frankfurt-Griesheim. In the second construction phase, the two platforms at the station will be raised to 96 centimetres from October 2025 until probably April 2027. This will allow travellers to board and alight the trains stopping at the station without steps. In addition to modern seating and weather shelters, the platforms will also receive new platform surfaces. They will have a new look following the modernisation. In future, travellers and visitors will also be able to better orientate themselves on the platform via new, high-resolution traveller information monitors and find out when trains are arriving. Aside from this, the station will be fitted with new, high-quality tiles as part of the construction work. A new colour scheme will make the station more recognisable.

During the modernisation work, the pedestrian subways at the station will be closed. Travellers and visitors will then cross the tracks via a temporary bridge. The bridge is equipped with ramps and is therefore barrier-free.

During the construction work, travellers and visitors should be prepared for temporary timetable deviations and track changes. Travellers are asked to check their train connections on site or online. We ask for your understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
