To ensure that travellers and visitors of the station Frankenstein (Sachs) can reach their destination without barriers in future, the station has been undergoing modernisation since May 2024. The construction work is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. In future, travellers and visitors can look forward to new weather shelters and modernised seating on the platforms, among other things.
Stations designed with accessibility in mind enable everyone to access the rail system. People who are restricted in their mobility, for example with a wheelchair, pushchair or bicycle, benefit in particular from appropriately designed stations. In the future, our railway stations should be accessible. We are already working on this today.
For this reason, the platforms at the station Frankenstein (Sachs) are currently being raised to 55 cm. This will ensure step-free access to stopping trains. A tactile guidance system is also being installed on the platforms. In addition, both platforms will be fitted with new weather shelters to protect against rain and wind, as well as new benches. Sustainable LED lamps and a new dynamic passenger information system will round off the redesign concept at the station Frankenstein (Sachs). The modernisation of the station will take place in two stages. Firstly, platform 1 will be remodelled before platform 2 follows. In order to minimise disruption to train services during the construction work, the inputs will also take place at night. The conversion work is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
