In order to create space for longer trains and thus enable more passengers to transfer to the S-Bahn, the station Ehlershausen will be expanded from 15 December 2023 until probably 2026. The existing platforms will be extended in two construction phases with the aim of increasing the station's capacity. The work will primarily take place at night while trains are running. The aim is to avoid restrictions for travellers and visitors.

As part of the construction work, the platforms at the station Ehlershausen will be extended, meaning that the first longer trains will be able to stop here from summer 2024.

The station Ehlershausen on the Celle – Hannover line is an important stop, especially for commuters. To enable longer S-Bahn trains to run at the station in the future, allowing more people to travel in comfort, the existing platforms will be extended in two construction phases from 15 December 2023. The work will take place while trains continue to run. However, the fact that the measures will mainly take place at night should reduce restrictions for travellers and visitors.

As part of the construction work, the platform on track 2 in the direction of Celle will initially be extended by 18 metres once the preparatory construction work has been completed. At the same time, this platform, as well as the platform on track 1, will each be equipped with an additional weather shelter. An energy-efficient LED lighting system will also be installed throughout the station. The first construction phase is expected to be completed in summer 2024.

From 2026, the second construction phase will then be implemented and thus the extension of the platform on track 2. Due to the need to make extensive adjustments to the existing signalling technology and the overhead line as well as the change in the position of a switch, it is unfortunately not possible to start early. Once the work has been completed, both platforms at the station will be extended to 210 metres each. This will allow longer trains to stop at the station in future and more people to travel in comfort.
